Smoked Eucalyptus for the María de la O restaurant

The María de la O restaurant, located in Granada, offers an innovative gastronomic proposal, which has earned it a Repsol Sun and a Recommendation in the Michelin Guide. This culinary offering deserved suitable facilities, so they entrusted Taller 32 Architecture Studio to carry out a renovation and interior design project.

Now, when diners come to enjoy Chechu González's high-quality Andalusian cuisine, which combines tradition and modernity, they also find a welcoming space. Taller 32 focused on improving the distribution of space —the routes were optimised to make the service more fluid— and the lighting: it was completely redesigned to create a more welcoming atmosphere focused on the dish, improving the diner's sensory experience.

To achieve that balance between luxury and functionality, they used high-quality technical materials that allowed for elegant yet durable finishes. Thus, for the furniture located at the entrance of the restaurant, custom-made elements were designed, where the protagonists are the decorative Negro Soft III and, above all, the Tasmanian Moka Boreal, both from the Duo range by Finsa. They also opted for Espiga Sal Textil for some interior details.

The Negro Soft III surface features a deep, pure black design, without any colour nuances, ideal for conveying elegance and timelessness. But, without a doubt, the star is the Tasmanian Moka Boreal, a smoked eucalyptus design that features a surface with all the nuances of this process applied to the wood veneer, the result of working from selected natural wood veneers. This decorative item can also be found in its light natural tone version in Tasmanian Natural.

The decorative elements selected by Taller 32 for the restaurant are applied to FibraPan®, the MDF board from Finsa. In this way, a luxurious aesthetic finish is achieved with the necessary resistance for a high-traffic area. Furthermore, the combination of this type of board with Duo's decorative surface allows for quick cleaning and great durability, adapting to the pace of service in a restaurant of this level.

Therefore, we can say that this renovation carried out by Taller 32, selecting materials from Finsa, among others, managed to enhance the proposal of the María de la O restaurant, located in a 19th-century mansion on the Carretera de la Sierra de Granada. Thus, the interiors of the hospitality establishment now fit better than ever with the historical essence of the building and the unique culinary proposal that merges tradition and innovation in a special environment.
