aparto Cristóbal de Moura student residence with maple veneer

Cutting-edge architecture and sustainability with dual certification
The Cristóbal de Moura student residence, opened in early 2024, is one of the most modern student accommodations in Barcelona. Located in the 22@ technology district (Sant Martí), it has been designed by the prestigious studio Batlleiroig with a focus on sustainable architecture and cutting-edge design

This building stands as a sustainability milestone by achieving double LEED and WELL Platinum certification. These distinctions represent the highest international recognition, guaranteeing not only the energy efficiency of the building but also a direct positive impact on the health and comfort of its inhabitants.

Residential ecosystem in the 22@ district
The complex has an area of 11,000 m² distributed over 9 floors. In total, it offers 347 rooms and a wide variety of common areas designed to encourage socialisation, study and leisure.

T3 Diagonal Mar office building, also designed by Batlleiroig. Although they are independent on the surface, both share a below-ground level dedicated to parking, optimising land use in one of the most dynamic areas of the city.

Design focused on well-being: housing typologies and community spaces
In the design of the Cristóbal de Moura apartment, two housing typologies have been defined: studios with their own kitchen and individual rooms with shared living areas. This structure seeks to enhance the sense of community among young people.

From an architectural perspective, the aim has been to maximise encounters through accessible and aesthetically appealing spaces. The lobby, study rooms and rest areas function as the heart of the building, where the choice of natural materials plays a key psychological role in reducing stress and improving concentration.

Interior Design with Maple Veneer
For the common areas, the Batlleiroig team selected our board FibraPan® IGN Natur with finish Maple. This wood veneer surface stands out for its light and luminous tone, characteristic of this American hardwood, which helps to multiply natural light in interiors.

From a technical point of view, Maple veneer offers a straight, fine grain with a subtle texture. The slight colour variations and natural wood markings lend an authentic character without disrupting the visual uniformity of the design.

Our wood solution was applied to:

● Reception: Panelling, benches and lockers.
● Common areas: Wardrobe fronts and custom-made furniture.
The execution of this ambitious carpentry project was carried out by Arlex Design, ensuring millimetre precision in every adjustment.
