Foxos by Arial, Thermopine on the exterior and FibraColour® on the interior
The project Foxos by Arial is one of the most exclusive real estate developments built in recent years in the Rías Baixas. It is located in a privileged enclave of Sanxenxo (Pontevedra) next to the Hermitage of A Lanzada. It offers direct views of the Atlantic Ocean and the island of Ons. It is characterised by its integration with the natural environment and a contemporary architectural design. In total, it includes 75 homes of up to two stories, which make up this development of four plots.
Designed by the studio Carbajo Barrios, the project stands out for its minimalist aesthetic and the use of noble materials that seek to blend in with the coastal landscape. For the facade, we supply Thermopine, our Thermopine Savia thermally treated wood that intertwines with the concrete. Thanks to thermally treated wood, which uses only heat and water vapour, the need for chemicals is eliminated and the thermal insulation of the building is improved by up to 25%.
Wood is present both in the skin of the buildings and in the solar protection lattice through a system of operable shutters. The wood was varnished in a grey tone, so that it blends in with the concrete and was installed already with that tone that the product naturally acquires over time.
The use of Thermopine Savia is not limited to the facade. In several of the terraces of the houses, the architects also opted for thermally treated wood for the exterior paving, both in its natural tone and stained in grey.
The 3 main advantages that Thermopine Savia offers are:
● Dimensional stability: Withstands the harsh conditions of the coastal climate without deformation.
● Aesthetic mimicry: We applied a grey stain that anticipates the natural tone of aged wood, achieving a perfect fusion with the concrete.
● Sun protection: The wood is part of a system of operable shutters that act as a lattice, passively regulating the interior temperature.
For the interior of the buildings, in the common areas of access to the homes, Foxos opted for a very original solution for the panelling, doors, mailboxes and signage. Specifically, all these applications were carried out in FibraColour®, the Finsa range made up of decorative wood fiberboards coloured throughout their mass. We use different shades from the range for signage, mailboxes and panelling:
● Grey in panelling, doors and mailboxes
● Blue in another part of the panelling
● Yellow and black in the signs.
This project is a clear example of the versatility of FibraColour®.
The Foxos by Arial project also stands out for its sustainability. She has obtained the prestigious VERDE certification from the Green Building Council Spain (GBCe), guaranteeing its sustainability, high energy performance and low environmental impact. Furthermore, the homes have an A energy rating, the highest possible category.
All of this has been aided by the choice of Thermopine Savia, certified local wood treated only with heat, eliminating toxic chemicals, or the FibraColour® range, a product made with water-based pigments and with a low concentration of formaldehyde.
