The Malaga AVE station is one of the busiest in Spain and passengers can enjoy a recently renovated shopping center. The authorship of the project and the work have been carried out by the international architecture studio Broadway Malyan Spain, led by the architect Jorge Ponce Dawson, who has turned the place into a 21st century shopping center.

As in any shopping center, clear circulations prevail, they explain to us from Broadway Malyan, and the aim is to give maximum visibility to establishments, avoiding nooks and crannies. For this, in Malaga they have been based on the use of monochrome white, wood and lighting design. "The lighting of the common areas must be attractive, modern and integrated into the architecture, as in this case, in which the architectural and lighting design have been conceived together," they point out.

A contemporary and fresh space where one of the points of attention is fixed on the new ceiling. The wooden slats made of FINSA Fireproof Fimaplast cover the interior of its 48.00 square meters of surface. “Slats are both a functional and aesthetic resource. They allow an open false ceiling to be arranged, so that the installations are hidden on a higher plane, with a black background, providing an aesthetic continuity that expands the space and makes it appear cleaner”. Linear luminaires are integrated between them, enhancing their lower plane.

The slats have a Denver Oak design melamine finish from our DUO Range, which represents a reduction in costs while, due to the height at which they are located, they offer the appearance of natural wood. Wood that extends to the columns and the laminate flooring, giving our visit the warmth we associate with home.

An attractive wooden entrance welcomes Vialia Málaga, which houses 100 shops and 10 movie theaters. Inside, the intervention has focused on the strategic points of the center, reforming the restaurant area, applying the concept of an open plaza or food court. Along the same lines of creating more open areas to make the visit more pleasant, the interior gardening and play areas for the little ones have been renewed. Users positively value this change of image and its evident modernization, which means more comfort and better service.

With extensive experience in the renovation of shopping centres, among which FAN Mallorca stands out, the largest shopping center in the Balearic Islands, from Broadway Malyan they frame this project in the trend of renovating shopping centers close to transport hubs. "Malls must be more than just places to go shopping," explains Jorge Ponce, director of Broadway Malyan Madrid, and transport hubs must go a step further in their definition. The result must be "a mixture of the two proposals in the same space, a place that is a destination in itself for various reasons, and that brings together the best retail, restaurant and leisure offer".
