Finfloor flooring for the L'Orange Bleue gymnasium

Last year L'Orange Bleue the leading low-cost fitness chain in France, decided to start its expansion in Spain. After opening two gyms in Barcelona, it chose Valencia for the third one. MDF Construcción was the company chosen for the refurbishment of a 800 m2 premises. In collaboration with the studio Selfa Arquitectura, they carried out a project that followed the concept of the franchise: functionality, durability and affordable prices.

They were looking for an open space that would create pleasant rooms, inviting the user to stay and come back. The result has been a series of double-height rooms with large glazed areas on the façade, giving prominence to the training areas, which function as a showcase attracting the attention of passers-by. Of course, with the prominent use of the corporate colours blue and orange.

Due to the type of business, with a high use of space, two important aspects were the durability and maintenance of the facilities, which had to be kept to a minimum. For this purpose, they have opted for resistant materials with good finishes, such as porcelain stoneware in the wet areas of bathrooms and changing rooms, rubber flooring in the weights and ‘biking’ area and Finfloor Original laminate flooring. 

Finfloor Original Roble Retro  laminate flooring has been installed in the reception area, the transit areas and the activity and cardio rooms. “A resistant and durable material is necessary due to the footfall and, being a low-cost gym franchise, we were looking for a material with a good quality-price ratio that would not require maintenance”, said Maite Torres Machí, manager of MDF Construcción in Valencia, who also values the way its natural finish brings warmth to the space. 

MDF Construcción has been using Finsa products in its work for many years: laminate flooring, melamine, boards... Among the advantages, Maite Torres points out that “the availability of the material is almost immediate, it does not require long supply times, and it has a wide variety of finishes”. But also the work of Enrique Galán, a member of the Technical Consulting team in Valencia, who is in charge of keeping them informed of the latest developments, answering their questions and advising them on the best use of each product.  

The client's reaction to the new gym has been very positive and has led the chain to trust in MDF Construcción for the refurbishment of new facilities soon to open in Levante. They have also requested the use of Finfloor which they emphasise is a material that, due to its finish, does not require exhaustive cleaning and facilitates the maintenance of the installations.
