Design of Craniomandibular Institute with Roble Alba

Kommo Design Studio was the company in charge of designing the new facilities of Instituto Craniomandibular, a centre specialising in the treatment of TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint) pathologies and orofacial pain, located in the Sarrià-Sant Gervasi neighbourhood of Barcelona.

When designing this clinic, Kommo Design - a studio directed by Alejandro Soldevila - aimed to create a welcoming space for patients. The goal was to have a calm and relaxed atmosphere, making it more pleasant for them to carry out their treatments, but without losing sight of the fact that we are in a medical centre.

To do this, Kommo Design Studio opted for natural oak wood combined with white walls and furniture and a light grey floor for all the rooms of the clinic. The choice of these materials, along with the creation of a large glass window that provides light to the central corridor, made it possible to achieve the goal of creating bright and warm spaces, making the patients' stay more pleasant.

Specifically, the wood chosen is the Roble Alba from the Studio Natur range by Finsa. It is a light-toned European oak veneer board that alternates between mesh structures and some half-figures. This composition gives movement to the whole and allows for great homogeneity between boards. This oak board is ideal for achieving a Nordic style through a natural and clean finish.

At the Craniomandibular Institute, we can find the Roble Alba throughout the entire clinic, both in panelling and doors in the reception area, as well as in the waiting room, hallways, and workspaces. We also found some furniture items designed with this natural wood veneer from Finsa.
