“FINSA's product provided the project with three indispensable peculiarities: it made it eye-catching, photogenic and resistant”.

Andrea Serboli, architect.

The Klinker family, from California, wanted to give new life to a 75-square-metre apartment in Barcelona's traditional El Born neighbourhood by using it as a second home to visit during their holidays. It was clear to them that they wanted to recover the art nouveau details dating back to the early 19th century, combining them with the languages of contemporary architecture. The result was of such a calibre that it merited articles in magazines such as Dezeen and Yellow Trace.

The studio Colombo and Serboli Architecture bet everything on colour to delineate the different areas of a space that was not going to change at a structural level. The approach consisted of playing with the pre-existing areas and giving them a new meaning, changing their significance and utility without moving the walls. In short, it was a reinterpretation of the place.

“FINSA's product provided the project with three indispensable peculiarities: it made it eye-catching, photogenic and resistant”, specified Andrea Serboli, architect. Technical wood has been the solution used in both the kitchen and bathrooms. “It turned out to be an excellent choice in terms of colour and quality”, Serboli explains. In the images we can appreciate the characteristic orange tones of Fibraplast Terracota Soft III and Sahara Soft III.

One of the main pillars of the project was to provide the apartment with an attractive appearance that would make it suitable for tourist use, and all this on a low budget. “Undoubtedly, this is one of the hallmarks of our projects, creating spaces that have an impact on revaluation”, the studio explains.
