Bar Albillos, the walnut renovation of the municipal bar of a town in Burgos

a+b architecture, a very careful and personalised approach to each project
A+B Arquitectura Studio, based in Burgos, specialises in residential projects. They specialise in comprehensive renovations and commercial interior design, distinguished by their meticulous and personalised approach to each project. Their aesthetic is understated and modern, combining warm, natural materials (such as wood) with neutral colour palettes.

The social value of design in small municipalities
In 2025, the study addressed the renovation of the old municipal bar in Albillos, a town in the Alfoz region of Burgos, located about 10 kilometres from the capital, with only 220 inhabitants. In towns of this dimension, these establishments take on great importance, as they serve as a meeting point and social hub for many residents.

Wall coverings and lighting: keys to a welcoming transformation
The intervention carried out by a+b arquitectura started from the premise of respecting the existing distribution and managed to renew the image of the premises through the coverings, the furniture and the new lighting.

The combination of walnut surfaces, along with lime plaster and light, creates a timeless and warm space, making it a much friendlier and more welcoming place for the daily use of the residents.

Elegance and safety with Fibrapan IGN Decor Nogal Canaletto Mesura
In their project, the architects opted for a single Wood design to apply to virtually all vertical surfaces. This is Nogal Canaletto Mesura, a decorative wood from the Duo range that provides a classic American walnut design characterised by its intricate grain and rich tone.

Thus, it can be found throughout the panelling, in the bar area cladding, on the bathroom entrance door, and in the restroom entrances themselves. For the baseboard, the architects chose FibraPan® Decor, a fire-retardant MDF board, to meet the fire protection requirements of a public venue.
