Ágora Arquitectura renovates its office in Barcelona with GreenPanel® by Finsa

Ágora Arquitectura is a Barcelona-based studio founded and directed by architects Joan Casals Pañella and José Luis Cisneros Bardolet. In recent years, it has established itself as one of the most interesting and respected emerging firms in the Catalan scene, standing out for its honest, sustainable approach and deep connection to the physical and social context of each work.

From a former clothing store to a workspace with its own unique vibe
The renovation of Ágora Arquitectura's own office, located on the ground floor of Alfonso XII Street in Barcelona, ​​is one of the best examples of their work philosophy and their ability to do a lot with very limited resources.

Before becoming his studio, the space was a former street-level clothing store. They started working without making major changes, and after a few years, they realised that it still maintained pieces of the trade and many elements were repairs that had been made on the fly. Upon assuming the reform, the team made a series of decisions in line with the way they work on their projects.

Bare walls and a large central table to encourage collaboration
The first step was to strip the space bare, removing the surface coverings from the walls. By leaving the walls bare, the place reveals its history and the passage of time. They opted for restraint, with a minimalism resulting from optimising the budget and not wanting to resort to grand artifices or pretentious aesthetics.

Furthermore, they chose not to fragment the space and instead articulated everything around a single, enormous central table, specifically designed to foster horizontality, the exchange of ideas, and deeply collaborative work among team members. The table was so large that they needed six tabletops.

GreenPanel® by Finsa: lightness, strength and material personality
That large central table was made with one of Finsa's most original materials: GreenPanel®, an ultralight panel with high resistance, made up of thin faces and an interior of fibres, the latter arranged in a grid pattern.

This is an ideal support, as it is especially recommended for applications that require a balance between low weight, high stability and strength. Furthermore, the uncoated edge of the panel gives it a great aesthetic personality for use in interior design.

Agora Arquitectura also used GreenPanel® for the other few elements present in their office, such as shelves or folding partitions to create enclosed spaces.
