Transforming an old 17th and 18th century convent in San Sebastian is a challenge in itself. If the challenge is accompanied by a famous location, like San Bartolomé Hill, one of the most impressive viewpoints in San Sebastián, we have all the ingredients for a master designer to design a four-star establishment worthy of recognition as the best project for sustainability and hotel re-use. A prize that was awarded at the 5th Re Think Hotel awards in 2019.

The hotel, which can be seen from anywhere in the city, retains the original facades of the north aspect of the convent and the roof of the chapel of San Bartolomé. The preservation of this element of heritage and other sustainable features, led to the award of the prize.

The hotel complex has green mobility services with bike parking, a specific system for efficient climate control and photovoltaic panels to generate electricity.

In addition to those sustainable elements, the interior space exudes elegance and design. The bedrooms have been panelled in superPan Decor Copper Patina Rock & Roll. "This project is of national significance, so we needed high-quality, hard-wearing materials, something that all FINSA products always provide," explained the MARTÍNEZ OTERO team.

The designer values "the quality, the delivery time and very wide product range" that FINSA offers as a supplier for this type of project, where even the smallest detail must be thought about, in order to give the client a consistent image in all its buildings.

The technical wood products are complemented by other luxury materials like silk, linen, velvet and brocades. The stately style and English interior design is notable in each bedroom, alongside decorative references to the city of San Sebastian.
