The project aims to reduce the annual energy consumption of the wood fibre drying process by carrying out several actions involving the mixing chambers and their various fans. The aerodynamic design of the mixing chamber was redesigned to reduce the pressure loss in the drying process. In addition, one of the fan motors and the throttle control system on the intake side was replaced by a 450 kW motor with better performance, and a new variable speed drive was installed.
Results in terms of energy savings and efficiency:
• Energy savings (electricity) of 2,190,347 kWh/year and 188.3698 toe/year
• Reduction of CO2 emissions equivalent to 188 t CO2/year
The investment has been carried out at the Finsa factory in Padrón, within the framework of the line of aid for energy saving and efficiency in SMEs and large companies in the industrial sector, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), coordinated by the IDAE and managed by INEGA, under the National Energy Efficiency Fund.
