Hotel Riu Plaza Toronto, contemporary interior design with Mystic Plomo as the main feature

The Hotel Riu Plaza Toronto is located in the heart of the Entertainment District of the Canadian city, making it an ideal place to discover this exciting city, characterised by the mix of cultures and the life of its streets. In addition to its welcoming rooms and services, this accommodation is also characterised by having facilities suitable for holding any type of corporate event.

Deart Hotel Design: trusted studio for RIU's expansion
This hotel, Riu's first in Canada, opened its doors in September 2025 and for this project the hotel chain once again entrusted Deart Hotel Design, an architecture and interior design studio (led by José Soria), which focuses its activity on the creation and design of hotel interiors and which in recent years has carried out numerous projects for the multinational originating in Mallorca.

A contemporary design that balances brand identity and urban pulse
This time, Deart has opted for a design that balances the brand's identity with Toronto's urban pulse. As this was the brand's debut in Canada, the studio opted for a contemporary, clean and extremely elegant international style, while ensuring that the atmosphere felt warm and welcoming.

The hotel's 352 rooms were designed under a clear premise: maximum comfort and use of natural light. Thus, the colour palette features neutral tones, soft greys, light woods and subtle touches of contrast that convey calm and order, ideal for both the business traveller and the urban tourist. In addition, functional furniture was chosen, with straight lines, noble materials and high-quality finishes designed to withstand high traffic without losing an iota of elegance.

That's where Finsa's materials come into play. Deart Hotel Design chose two of our designs. The most prominent is Mystic Plomo in Atlas finish, a wood design with a worn effect that features an intense grey tone. This surface is present in different pieces of furniture in the rooms, such as wardrobe fronts, desks, luggage racks, headboards and even panelling. On the other hand, the Espiga Sal in Textil finish— a herringbone design that creates a diagonal zigzag appearance, in a very light warm grey tone, almost off-white—was applied to the inside of the wardrobes.
