The project aims to reduce thermal energy consumption during production of MDF board by intervening in the operation of the biomass boiler supplied by Vyncke. Specifically, it is proposed to harness the energy generated in the cooling process of the boiler's combustion grate, which is currently dissipated in a series of air coolers that dump it into the environment, wasting the heat. To this end, the following actions are envisaged:
•Installation of an air exchanger
•Installation of an air filter
•Modification of existing ductwork
•Installation of duct insulation
Energy savings and efficiency results:
•Energy savings of 9,686,000 kWh/year
The investment is being carried out in Fibranor (Rábade) within the framework of the 2022-2023 INEGA line of aid for energy saving and efficiency in companies, co-financed by the European Union's 2014-2020 Galicia ERDF Operational Programme.
